Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has ordered all outgoing chairpersons and vice chairpersons of Parliament’s Sectoral and Accountability Committees to immediately hand over office to the incoming leaders.
Among says that it’s against the qualities of a good leader for one to refuse vacating office at the end of his or her term.
Sectoral committees are non-accountability committees of Parliament and vice versa and are majorly chaired by the government.
Meanwhile, Speaker Anita Among also told the house that the business committee of parliament sat last Friday and passed a resolution to appoint Prof. Elijah Mushemeza as the Whip for all Committee Chairpersons and Deputy Chairpersons to facilitate the smooth operation of business in Parliament.
She also informed Parliament that the business committee approved the parliamentary calendar for the third session.
