Designated vaccination centers in Kitgum district are currently overwhelmed with a high number of people who turned up to receive the COVID-19 jab ahead of the Uganda Cranes match against a Northern Uganda select team.

The match is part of a regional tour preceding the Uganda Cranes preparations for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Kenya and Mali. The national team is facing off with a select team at the Kitgum Bomah Grounds this Thursday.

But authorities in Kitgum have announced that any fan, who wishes to watch the match, has to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Kitgum Resident District Commissioner William Komakech says that whoever turns up for the match will be required to present a vaccination card, or certificate before they access the stadium. Komakech however adds that access will also be restricted to 200 people.

According to Komakech, they are also using the opportunity to mobilize the masses to embrace the vaccination exercise.
