A Youth group calling themselves as members of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) youths wing have condemned the National Unity platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, for backing a resolution by the European Union Parliament to delay the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project over human rights violations.

During a press conference at their headquarters in Kamwokya, a suburb of Kampala last week, Bobi Wine indicated that they had petitioned the EU Parliament on the deteriorating aspect of observing the human rights and freedom of Ugandans by the government.

While addressing journalists on Monday at the NRM Secretariat, Maxzon Muwhezi a Member of the youth league said Bobi’s assertions were in bad faith because oil extraction means employment for youths in the country as well as social-economic development for all.

Muhwezi adds that Bobi wine should know that Uganda is an independent country and no one has powers to stop its plans and oil will be extracted with or without any assistance from the European Union since all the environment assessment reports were done.

He has also blamed Bobi Wine for condemning students who came out publicly last week to demonstrate over the EU pronouncement and took a document to the EU offices in Uganda for stopping the extraction of the Oil.
