The Joint Security agencies have continued to tighten security by deploying both visible and none visible personnel in Kampala ahead of the forthcoming Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and G77 plus China Summits.

 

Over 400 international delegates and heads of state are expected to attend the two summits which will start on 15th to 23rd of January 2024 at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Makindye division, Kampala.

 

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson while updating the media on the security readiness for the summits said that the deployment is aimed at detecting and detering any range of criminal activity that may arise before, during and after the summits.

 

He says that they have deployed the K9 teams, marine squad, convoy management team among others to ensure the delegates are protected and secured while in Uganda.

 

The Police Directorate of Fire and Reduce Services Operation Officer Godfrey Okobo says they have set up an emergency operation Center at the fire headquarters and deployed fire fighters at various road junctions ready to respond to any fire related emergency in Kampala.
