Police at Kajjansi have arrested Yoweri Kasozi, a director of Mentor High School for detaining the school cook, Daniel Euriana, for 100 days in a store on suspicion of stealing five drums and four iron sheets.

Kasozi, who is also the proprietor of Tooto Wetu Education Programme Children and Youth Centre located at KKB Cell, Bweya Ward, Kajjansi town council, accuses Euriana 21, of stealing the items on December 2nd, 2023.

In his statement at Kajjansi Police station, Kasozi said he was punishing Euriana because he did wrong to steal from a person who employs him.

Euriana who was hired as a school guard is said to have been promoted to a cook but in the process they found five drums and four iron sheets missing, and Euriana was said to be responsible,” according to Kasozi.

Instead of taking Euriana to the Police, Kasozi decided to confine him in the store from December 2nd, 2023 to March 13th (yesterday) when he was rescued by Kajjansi Division Police Commander (DPC) who raided the premises with other Police officers upon receiving an alert from one of the locals.

Police have warned people against turning their homes or workplaces as confinement centers but always seek Police intervention whenever they suspect that someone has committed an offence.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, Kasozi has been slapped with charges of unlawful confinement.
