The Religious Sisters of the Institute of Immaculate Heart of Mary Repatrix Ggogonya Kisubi have been commended for their commitment to serve God through those who are marginalized and abuse.

The Archbishop Elect for the Archdiocese of Kampala Bishop Paul Ssemogerere says religious life is a calling and lived through a sacrifice to serve the lord and his people.

Bishop Ssemogerere says the world needs light of God right from grassroots to the top most position of leadership.

Drawing from the readings of the second Sunday of Christmas a solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord Bishop Ssemogerere said Uganda needs light like the one that led the wise men to see Jesus for the society to get out of the darkness of selfish interests that aid abuse of human dignity, fuel injustice and suffering of others.

Like the Charism of the IMHR of fighting for the uplifting of human dignity Uganda needs such a spirit to save many who are suffering in the hands of the would be protectors who deny them their rights, freedom and services.

He prayed for those who died in the year 2021 including the Archbishop of Kampala Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga who was an advisor to the Institute a man of God who did a lot to support religious life.

A total of 15 sisters have made their perpetual vows, three celebrated silver jubilee; Sr. Teddy Nakyanzi, Sr. Elizabeth Namatovu and Sr. Tebesigwa Nagujja all from Kampala Archdiocese while Two Sr. Maria Clement Namayanja from Masaka diocese and Sr. Benedicta Nalukenge from Kampala Archdiocese celebrated Diamond Jubilee.

The Institute of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Repatrix- Ggogonya (IHMR), is a diocesan rite and was founded by the late Archbishop Joseph Louis Cabana on the 21st of April 1948 at Bugonga convent, Entebbe. Cabana was one of the members of the Society of the Missionaries of Africa, commonly known as White Fathers who arrived in Uganda in 1924.
