The National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) has called on government to consider including persons with disabilities on the list of vulnerable groups that to benefit from the lockdown relief fund.

Recently government released a list of seven categories of beneficiaries excluding persons with disabilities due to receive cash hand out by a mobile money transfer due to start on 6th July 2021.

Addressing the media today at their offices in Bukoto, the NUDIP Chairperson Bumali Mpindi says that most of the persons with disabilities are left with barely nothing to survive on due to the lockdown,l yet others are still unable to toil in order to earn a living due to the mobility challenges that have been exacerbated by the ban on public transport.

He adds that many of their persons majority depending on drugs so they call on government to bring their essential drugs close to their nearest health centers for easy access since public transport was put on halt.
