The council of older persons in Kampala district are dissatisfied with the planned government relief aid for the venerable groups during the 42 day lockdown saying they are among the vulnerable groups who need to be catered for than ever being discriminated.

Speaking to the media at their offices in Nsambya, the chairperson of the council Francis Anthony Lubowa said over 3,372 members out of a total of 31,500 older persons cannot even afford a single meal a day hence the very reason why they would have been the first persons to be considered on the list of the vulnerable ones.

He added that they have full administrative structures of older persons right from villages in Kampala which should be involved in the ongoing process of giving out aid to cater for their daily needs in this situation.

Byaruhanga John Mary the general secretary to the council revealed that older persons are the most affected because even those who were helped by this children they cannot do it since they are no longer working hence appealing to the government to consider older persons with special arrangement for them.
