The prosecutions have finalized the investigations where former Uganda Airlines Chief Executive Director- CEO Cornwell Muleya is charged with mismanagement of public funds.

This was revealed by the State Prosecutor Rogers Kinobe before the Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate Fedilis Otwao.

The Court set a date of 31st of August 2022 to start hearing the case.

It is alleged that between May and June, 2022   Muleya willfully and without reasonable justification or excuse refused to comply with an order of the Inspectorate of Government- IG dated May 23,2022 requiring his attendance to give  evidence and produce documents to the said institution regarding mismanagement of public funds, procurement and recruitment of staff at the Uganda Airlines.

On the 21st of June 2022, Muleya was arrested by the Inspectorate of Government and charged with disobedience of orders of the IG on the 22nd of the same month.

He was later granted bail of 1.5million shillings by the same Court and ordered to return to court for further mention of his case.

He was the CEO Uganda Airlines until April 2021 when the Minister of Works and Transport, Gen Edward Katumba Wamala fired him.

Later, President Museveni ordered for investigations to be conducted against Muleya over corruption allegations.
