As learners report back home for the third term holidays today, Police have cautioned parents to be vigilant by restricting children from playing and swimming in unsafe and unsupervised places.

This follows an incident in which two people drowned in Kijabijo, Kira Municipality in Wakiso district.

The first incident happened on 23rd of November 2022 when a 12-year-old Joel Ssenteza drowned from where he and other colleagues had gone swimming.

The children that survived rushed and informed their parents who mobilized efforts to find the body of the deceased but they could not find it on the first day.

Yesterday, when the search intensified, Charles Kasagga Kiwanuka, 40, who had entered the same water to help find the drowned child also drowned in the process.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson says a team of Police officers from both Kasangati Police Station and Kijabijjo responded to the crime scene and mounted a search with the help of the volunteers to find the bodies of the deceased persons and the first victim was found.
