Prof. Frederick Ssempebwa, the former Constitutional Review Commission (CRC) Chairperson has proposed for an over whole review of the constitution instead of a piecemeal Presidential age limit.

Appearing before the Parliamentary Legal Committee to give his views on the current constitutional amendments, Ssempebwa says it will be unfair and discriminatory to cap off the political age limit and leave that of civil servants.

However, Ssempebwa advises parliament to restore term limits instead of removing the presidential age limit as advocated by the National Resistance Movement (NRM) majority legislatures.

This comes in time when the 45 days which the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga gave to the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs committee to handle the constitutional Amendment bill 2017 that seeks among other things to scrap the presidential age limit are elapsing on November 26.
