Uganda Prisons Service has lifted the Covid19 restrictions which it imposed on all Prison centers during the Pandemic lockdown by allowing visitations of inmates.

In January this year, the Prisons Service has restricted visits to prisons as a mechanism of curbing the spread of Covid-19 amongst prisoners and officers by allowing fully vaccinated to access prisons.

Frank Baine the Prisons spokesperson says that all imposed restrictions have been lifted to allow normal operations of the Prisons across the country following the full reopening of the economy.

Baine revealed that the admissions of new prisoners will be reverted to traditional ways by not isolating them and also resumption of normal operations of taking inmates to courts and also allowing visitors.

But he has maintained that only fully vaccinated visitors with proof are the only people to be allowed to visit inmates.

Meanwhile, Frank Baine that the Officers in Charge of the prisons were directed that all new inmates must be vaccinated against COVID-19 before being admitted in Prisons.
