The titular head of Islam in Uganda Prince Kassim Nakibinge has asked the government to reassure citizens on security, following the recent attack in Kasese by suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) where 43 people lost their lives and the increased spate of gun violence in different parts of the country.

Delivering Eid-ul-Adhal to believers at his home in Kibuli earlier on Wednesday where he served over 100 Muslims to feast after the prayers at Kibuli Mosque, Prince Nakibinge asked security personnel to be more vigilant and ensure that all citizens enjoy peace and harmony at all times.

Prince Nakibinge says there is need for more effort in Intelligence to detect crime, citing the re-emergence of machete murders in Masaka.

He advised the security agencies to step up the safety measures of all Ugandans rather than beefing up security of a few individuals at the expense of the majority.

Meanwhile, the Leader of Opposition in Parliament Mathias Mpuuga has asked the Muslim community to pray for this country especially the leaders who seem bothered about the plight of others.

This was while delivering his Eid Al-Aldha message to the public at parliament.

Mpuuga says the current leaders are no longer mindful of tomorrow’s generation that is why the country is crying over the evil acts like corruption, injustice and bad governance.

He also condemned the tendency by security agencies of witch hurting a certain section of people because of their appearance and beliefs.
