Independent presidential candidate, Willy Mayambala has rushed to the Electoral Commission-EC for assistance to get a car and fuel for his campaign.

Mayambala, who was scheduled to campaign in different places in Wakiso district hadn’t shown up by this afternoon. A member of his campaign team identified as Jamal told the press that Mayambala had gone to the EC headquarters for assistance.

Asked whether the presidential hopeful would continue with his campaign in Wakiso as planned, Jamal said that he wasn’t certain about the program since the candidate hadn’t sorted the challenges he was facing.

Paul Bukenya, the EC Spokesperson says that he hadn’t seen the candidate in the Commission premises. He, however, said the premises are open for everyone seeking any information. “But the commission was clear from the very first day of nominations that it would not give out vehicles to presidential candidates to run their campaigns,” Bukenya said.

Adding that “the only vehicles the commission had for the candidates were those used by the escorts.”
