Government is going to refund business man Marded Kiconco for his land to save people of Lussanja from losing their places of aboard.

 

This comes after the businessman Medard Kiconco allegedly acted on a fake court order to evict over 500 people from Lussanja on the land they had occupied for more than a decade.  High Court judge, Justice Tadeo Asiimwe in his Ruling clarified that Kiconco was the lawful owner which people of Lussanja refused saying it was not done in good faith and called President to help.

 

Hon. Namuganza Persis. Minister of State for Lands, Housing and Urban Development (Lands) disclosed that it was not fair to evict over 500 people from the land after role its the government to look after its people.

 

Namuganza adds that government is finalizing the process of getting funds to pay Kiconco so that by December this year people repossess their pieces of plots of land and has called on the affected people to stay calm.

 

Meanwhile Namuganza also warned people planning to block it’s directive to take over all public Markets.

 

Cabinet recently directed Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to take over all public markets to eliminate middlemen who have fraudulently acquired multiple shops, leaving out the ordinary traders.

 

Hon. Namuganza Persis. Minister of State for Lands, Housing and Urban Development (Lands) told the journalists, government has decided to take over city markets with intention to restore orderliness in the markets and end fraudulent giveaway of shops and other working spaces to non-traders but  some people are also planning to defy it.

 

Namuganza adds some people mostly in kisakka Markets have totally refused to agree with government decision yet people who lie to them that they bought the market land are opportunities.

 

She has disclosed that government is committed to take the market and face with whoever planning to stop the directive.
