The Uganda Communications Commission –UCC has directed all radios and television stations to broadcast the presidential address live on Wednesday.

According to the Senior Presidential Press Secretary Sandor Walusimbi’s tweet on Tuesday, President Yoweri Museveni is expected to address the country at 8pm on matters of national importance and the Ebola Virus Disease –EVD outbreak.

Museveni’s address comes at when Ebola has hit a spike in infection cases and deaths, with figures by Tuesday morning putting deaths in both suspected and confirmed cases at 23 while infections are at 36, 18 of which are confirmed and the other 18 are probable.

According to the statement from UCC, TVs and Radios countrywide are requested to broadcast live the presidential address at 8pm.

On 20 September 2022, Uganda health authorities declared an outbreak of Ebola disease, caused by the Sudan virus, following laboratory confirmation of a 24 year old patient from a village in Madudu sub-county, Mubende district, central Uganda.

As of 27th September 2022 the cumulative figure of registered deaths stands at 21 with 4 of them confirmed of Ebola Virus Disease EVD of the Sudan strain and 17 are probable cases. These are part of the 34 total case numbers so far reported in Uganda.

Ministries like that of internal affairs warned to turn away any person seeking for their services but refuse to wash hands at the entrances of their premises.

Authorities in Moroto have announced strict measures among them hand washing for all travelers and closely monitoring people who traveled from western Uganda according to Dr. James Lemukol the Moroto district health director.
