The Anti corruption court has granted bail to Lira District officials who were charged with Abuse of Office, Conspiracy to defraud and fraudulent procurement of titles on district land.

The accused that include the Natural Resources Officer Pabious Otuke and Lira Lands Ministry Zonal Office Cartographer Joel Ogwang have been granted cash bail of 1.8 million shillings.

Grade One Magistrate Moses Nabende after granting them bail has directed them to come back to court on the 31st October 2022 for mention of the case.

Prosecution alleges that the two together with the District staff surveyor, Francis Opio who is at large, between February and August 2019 at Lira while surveying government land left out part of the land which they allocated to individuals including their relative Rebecca Atoo.

It adds that these actions were arbitrary and prejudicial to their employer which is the government of Uganda.
