President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has decried the fake seedlings distributed to farmers by the army-led Operation Wealth Creation-OWC.

He has vowed to replace them since they have turned into seed growers.

Operation Wealth Creation is led by Museveni’s young brother Gen Salim Saleh Akandwanaho.

It took over the work of agriculture support and modernization from the statutory National Agricultural Advisory services-NAADS.

Museveni said this while meeting members of the Presidential CEO Forum at State House Entebbe that the Operation Wealth Creation people whom they had placed there to distribute have now become seed growers.

He adds that they are going to replace them with institutional agencies like Prisons, National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) to produce seeds since they are looking for quick money.

He called for the protection of local investors saying it’s the only way that they can grow and be of benefit to the country.

Led by the Vice Chairman of the Presidential CEO Forum, Emmanuel Katongole the group briefed the President on the achievements registered since the beginning of the forum in 2021.

Museveni noted that African countries should transform from raw material-producing economies to industrialization if they are to achieve socio-economic transformation.

The Presidential CEO Forum was inaugurated in 2021 by President Museveni with a call to the business community to adopt import substitution and export promotion if the country is to realize tangible economic progress.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development Matia Kasaija, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Francis Mwebesa, Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Ruth Nankabirwa and various CEOs from the public and private sectors.
