The Pope Nuncio Emeritus to Belgium Archbishop Augustine Kasujja has today drawn leaders from the Catholic Church, Priests, lay faithful and friends who joined him for celebrations of 50 years a priest and 25 years a bishop.

The function has been held at his home parish our lady of assumption Mitalamaria starting with the Eucharistic celebration; he led while the homily was given by Rt. Rev. Mathias Ssekamanya Bishop Emeritus of Lugazi diocese.

Bishop Ssekamanya hailed the contribution and successes achieved by Archbishop Kasujja right from priesthood to his diplomatic service which gave Uganda credit internationally however this was never a single or church’s contribution but rather the parents.

He said the parents of Archbishop Kasujja, the late Katalina Nanseko and Yozefu Naluswa of Ssango in Mitala MariaMpigi District who gave birth to him on 26 April 1946, played and prayed hard for their children less of that children from his family would not be responsible to date as its eminent in most of the youths in the current generation.

Bishop Ssekamanya reminded the congregation and priests to always pray for the virtue of obedience in their service and to the Bishop that their calling not only in priesthood will be successful. This helped Archbishop Kasujja to serve in more than ten missions or countries as a nuncio without hesitation.

Bishop Ssekamanya didn’t hastate to remind those still cohabiting and in unofficial love affairs to upgrade and get matrimonial marriage to enjoy full benefits from the Catholic Church and God’s blessings.

The function that coincided with the celebration of Mitalamaria Parish day was attended by the Pope Nuncio to Uganda Archbishop Luigi Bianco, Archbishop of Kampala Paul Ssemogerere, Rt. Rev. Robert Muhiirwa Bishop of Fort portal diocese, Monsignors, priests and Christians as well as friends who have served with Archbishop Kasujja abroad.

Archbishop Kasujja started his studies at Ssango a home village in Mitalamaria then joined Mitala Maria Primary School, Before joining Kisubi Minor Seminary between 1960 and 1965. He studied at the major seminary in Katigondo (1966–1967) and the Pontifical Urban University in Rome (1967–1974).He was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Kampala on 3 January 1973.

After earning a doctorate in theology, he entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See in 1979. His postings included Argentina, Haiti, Bangladesh, Portugal, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, Algeria, Tunisia, Nigeria, Mauritius and lastly Belgium and Luxemburg.
