The Association of Member Episcopal conferences of Eastern Africa (AMECEA) Bishops that are in the 19th Plenary Assembly in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia have been challenged to explore digital media for evangelization.

In his presentation on behalf of the Prefect of the Di- Castery for the Communication of the Holy See, Rev. Fr. Paul Sa-ma-sumo cited the May 4th 2017, Pope Francis’ message to the Secretariat for Communications, during the Di-castery’s first-ever Plenary Assembly that highlighted goodness of the new digital culture throughout the world.

He further explained that digital media would need to be part of a primary platform for spreading the Gospel with a promise to support African countries which have not so far embraced the use of digital media.

Fr. Sa-ma-sumo assured AMECEA to count on continued collaboration with the Di-castery for Communication, hopping that in future; there could be more collaboration in the making of the World Day of Social Communications – a day that celebrates the Holy Father’s message.

Meanwhile, SIGNIS President Helen Osman, an organisation that normally facilitates Church media affirmed that SIGNIS will continue to bring the best practices, both in technical applications and communication methodologies, in service to the Church.
