Parliament has postponed this afternoon’s plenary until tomorrow evening after NRM Members of Parliament were summoned to state house Entebbe to agree on the tax amendment bill on both social media and mobile money.

According to the letter written by the clerk of Parliament Jane Kibirige to Mps, the postponement had been directed by the deputy speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanya due to the caucus, apologizing to Mps for the inconvenience.

The NRM caucus has sat this afternoon under the chairmanship of President Yoweri Museveni to come up with the common position on the controversial taxes on Mobile Money and social media.

NRM Chief-whip Ruth Nankabirwa however dispelled assertions that Anti-NRM Mps weren’t invited for the meeting,.

On the issue of delayed appointment of parliamentary committee chairs and their vices, Nankabirwa attributed the delay to NRM Central Executive Committee which she says has been busy in local council elections but very soon they will be ready with the names of those to take over the positions.
