Police are tracing the phone calls the self-styled vlogger, Ibrahim Tusubira alias Isma Olaxes, also popularly known as Jajja Iculi received before he was gunned down on Saturday night.

Tusubira who was the President of the Ugandan bloggers was shot dead by unknown assailants in his vehicle while he returned home in Kyanja central zone, at around 9:20pm on Saturday.

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says the deceased left Munyonyo at around 4pm where he was playing football and went to Mutungo where he had dinner at Nyakaana’s restaurant and later continued with his movements and as he reached Munyonyo roundabout along Entebbe expressway, he received a call from an unknown person asking him to park alongside the road and wait for him.

Enanga adds that the blogger and his driver waited for the caller who sounded like a man but he didn’t show up until they drove off to Kyanja.

Enanga further says that the preliminary investigations indicate that the murder was not a random but a targeted attack by the assassins who used a pistol to shoot him dead as he was driven back home at Kyanja.

Enanga says that the attackers armed with a pistol waited for Tusubira at his gate before shooting him at close range and killing him instantly and they later walked away from the scene before they jumped onto a waiting motorcycle on the main road and rode away.

A glove suspected to have been used by the shooter was recovered by police sniffer dogs according to the police.

Meanwhile, Tusubira’s driver Matthias Waiswa who was with him during the shooting is currently under protective custody whereas two other people have been arrested to help in investigations that are expected to help get to the bottom of the murder according to Enanga.
