Police have disclosed having received a phone call from Harold Byamugisha Aponye, a son of a Ugandan grain businessman, Apollo Nyegamahe Aponye who disappeared in Kampala last Sunday.

This is after Aidah Busingye, 40, the wife of Byamugisha, a resident of Lubowa, Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality in Wakiso district reported a case of disappearance on 10th of January 2023 to police.

Busingye told police that her husband left home on January 8, 2023 at around 3pm driving a Range Rover white in color Registration number UBF 017D heading for work at Aponye Uganda Limited in Nalukolongo industrial area but never returned.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson says that they had commenced investigations to find the whereabouts of Byamugisha using CCTV cameras to track the movement of his vehicle until yesterday when they received a call from a person claiming to be him saying he is alive and safe.

Byamugisha is the Executive Director of Aponye Limited, Uganda’s leading grain business.

Meanwhile, Police at Kira Road Police station is holding a private security guard identified as Silver Ocherot attached to Saracen Security Company for attempted murder of a Police officer at the premises of the Lebanese Ambassador to Uganda in Ntinda as Owoyesigyire explains.
