The Police have warned the leader of the People’s Front for Transition, Dr. Kizza Besigye to abandon his idea of holding illegal processions that are intended to cause chaos in the country but instead use the law to express his concerns.

Besigye is currently under house arrest after he was intercepted by security operatives following his attempt to mobilize Ugandans to rise up against the high cost of living especially for the vulnerable common citizens whom he said belong to the “cassava” republic.

Addressing a press conference at Naguru, the Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga said that Regional Police Commanders have been directed to ensure all illegal processions are disrupted to avoid violence that affect businesses in the markets, traffic flow and people’s peace and safety in the country.

Enanga says that Besigye should respect the rule of law by notifying the police three days in advance about his intended demonstration by indicating the plan, date and time, location, size and purpose among others.

He says that they are to continue using their powers prescribed by the law to disrupt any unlawful assemblies and procession staged by the politicians.

Earlier this Monday, Besigye had expressed his disappointment to the Police for blocking his visitors and Ugandans from accessing his home in Kasangati, Wakiso district.
