Security has urged authorities of public and worship places, markets, business buildings and schools among others to be keen on strangers taking photos of these facilities with phones, driving at a low speed around the area and those loitering around the premises in anticipation of a possible terror attack.

This is in response to the travel advisory issued by the United Kingdom (UK) over the weekend alerting Uganda about the possible terror attack.

In its updated alert, the UK predicted that the attacks could be indiscriminate or against foreign nationals or places frequented by Foreign nationals.

However Fred Enanga, the Police spokesperson says the alert didn’t necessarily indicate the target places and the nature of terrorism instead it was generalizing which is hard to determine though the capacity of prevention is available.

Enanga has assured the public that the joint security team is conducting inspection at all vital places that are occupied by a number of people and they are working with different sectors like transport and business to ensure security alertness.

Enanga further says that Uganda has been peaceful except the recent cases of the soft target attacks by the Allied Democratic Forces -ADF of which most of these groups and their operations have been dismantled.

Meanwhile, the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has warned government not to downplay the security alert from the government of UK because it has been ignoring them and the recent is the attack on Lhubiriha Secondary School, Kasese were 37 students lost life due to ADF rebel attack according to the party deputy secretary general Harold Kaija.
