Police have released guidelines for organizing entertainment events or concerts in the country following the recent New Year tragic.

At least 11 people died and over 20 victims sustained injuries during a stampede at the Freedom City Mall Namasuba along Entebbe road on 31st December 2022.

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says that the guidelines even require organizers and promoters to seek clearance from the Inspector General of Police -IGP and also inform the local leaders about the event.

He adds that they would require providing full details and addresses of artists expected to perform on that specific event or concert and also provide the projection of the number of revelers.

Enanga says organizers or promoters will have to ensure full security and Stewards deployment at the venue prior to the event and also provide access control measures.

He further explains that the organizers or promoters are needed to secure traffic management plans and show capacity for handling emergencies.
