Police have issued guidelines for entertainment event organizers that will run through Christmas into the New Year.

This comes after the Police recently confirmed to have intensified vigilance to curb crime in the festive season that is normally known to be a season of parties, celebrations, shopping and thanksgivings among others.

The Police Deputy Spokesperson Claire Nabakka says that among the guidelines released include; having organizers getting clearance from the management of the various venues before they seek for approval from the area police commanders.

She says that there is need for organizers to have permission from the local authorities, avail full names and addresses to police of all performing artists expected at that particular event and also secure a clear traffic management plan.

Nabakka further says there should be measures for crowd control by deploying enough stewards according to the number of revelers expected.

Meanwhile, the Uganda Musicians Association Secretary General Phina Mugerwa urges artistes, event organizers and promoters to pay close attention to public safety by working hand-in-hand with the security personnel.

This is the first festive season to host entertainment events in the last two years which were marred with Covid-19.
