At least 85 million shillings of the money stolen for the Busiro East Member of Parliament, Medard Lubega Sseggona has been recovered according to the police.

Sseggona is said to have lost about 118 million Shillings he had left in his vehicle that he took to the Saga Washing bay located at Kakeeka in Mengo, Rubaga division for washing on 8th March 2024.

While addressing the Journalists at the Police headquarters in Naguru today, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire noted that the MP handed over the vehicle to a car washer Jovan Asiimwe who saw the money and later took off with it after Ssegona’s departure from the washing bay.

Owoyesigyire says the MP first considered humanity means to recover his stolen money but the suspects failed to return it until he reported the case to Police on 15th March 2024 which swiftly hunted them.

He adds that among the suspects in custody are a 19 year old Annet Nantongo, a supermarket attendant and a resident of Rubaga as well as John Vianney Kibarya (20), an electrician and a resident of Kinaawa.

Others are Asiimwe and Emmanuel Migadde who are both car washers and also residents of Kinaawa.

Of the recovered Sh85 million, Sh35m was obtained from Kinaawa and the Sh50m picked from Kalagala in Mpigi according to the police.
