Police have revealed that there has been neither death nor injuries from the fire that went out at Mbogo High School fire in Kawempe division, Kampala district early today.

It is reported that the fire gutted the Senior Three girl’s dormitory of Mbogo High School located at Mbogo zone Kawempe in Kampala district at around 1am last night.

Patrick Onyango the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson says that a team from Kawempe Fire Brigade received information about the fire outbreak and immediately rushed to the school where they were able to manage the fire and over 65 students accommodated in the affected dormitory survived.

Onyango says that though students were rescued, 34 double deckers and other scholastic materials were destroyed by the fire that is suspected to have been caused by an electric short circuit.

He however says that the situation at the school is currently normal, appealing to school administrators to always use qualified electricians to install electricity in their buildings.

In June 2023, Jane Foundation Primary School located in Omukacence Cell, Rwentuha Ward, Rwentuha Town Council, Bushenyi District in Western Uganda caught fire that ripped through one of the boy’s dormitories as it destroyed their property though nobody got injured.
