Police have released a list of victims of Kasese suspected rebel attack, insisting that the death toll still stands at 42.
Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says that among the victims are Eliton Maseruka, Marion Itunga, Rosette Kabugo Kiiza, Ruth Katusime, Eliza Nyakato, Gauba Bira, Martine Luke and Lucia Kamara among others.
According to Enanga, among the recovered bodies, 37 are children and 35 are students of Lhubiriha Secondary School in the border two of Mpondwe in Kasese district.
He says that 25 bodies have been examined at Bwera Hospital while 27 bodies have been handed over to their relatives though 2 haven’t been identified.
Enanga says that Forensic experts picked samples from 17 bodies which were burned, shot, or hacked to death by attackers at a secondary school and one of these bodies was found with a gunshot wound.
At least six victims are still in critical condition undergoing treatment while four survived the attack and are under Police protection.
The Authorities have since linked the massacre to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels, an armed group with ties to Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) which has been launching attacks for years from bases in volatile Eastern DRC.
