Police is yet to establish the exact cause of the bus accident in which 22 people lost their lives.

 

Last Friday night, a Gaaga Bus that was traveling from Lira districts to Kampala involved in an accident where it hit the tractor before it rolled and collided with an oncoming cargo lorry transporting crates of beer.

The accident happened at Nanda village, some 12 kilometers from Karuma Township in Nyamasha Parish, Mutunda Sub County, Kiryandongo District.

Preliminary information based on statements from witnesses indicate that the Gaagaa bus was over speeding when it rammed into a tractor which lacked lights or reflectors, rolled and hut a beer truck.

Addressing the media today in Kampala, the Police Spokesperson Emilian Kayima said that police will not rely on the account of the eye witnesses but will wait until the dispatched team of traffic officers establishes the exact cause of that accident.

He also said that during investigations, the Police will establish if some of the accident victims are still unaccounted for.
