As Makerere University conducts its 74th graduation ceremony this week, Police have increased their vigilance on roads accessing the institution.

 

Michael Kananura, the Traffic Police Spokesperson says that officers are already on the roads directing the flow of traffic for the smooth running of the graduation ceremony at Makerere University.

 

He says that those residing and using roads accessing the university should prepare for their journeys early to avoid traffic delays that may arise during the graduation ceremony.

 

The Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says that there is security visibility on ground at Makerere University that has registered no any criminal incident on the first day of the graduation.

 

The week-long graduation ceremony, starting January 29th to February 2nd, 2024, will witness the conferring of various degrees.

A total of 12,913 graduates will receive degrees, including 11,016 Bachelor’s Degrees, 1,585 Master’s Degrees, 156 Postgraduate Diplomas, 24 Undergraduate Diplomas, and 132 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees.
