Police have identified three bodies of people who perished in a fire outbreak at Kinawa Cell, Kasenge Ward in Kyengera Town Council last night.

The deceased are, Halima Nankaja aged 50 a land lady, her grandson one Ayubu a male juvenile aged three and Aisha Nambi a 13-year-old female juvenile.

It’s alleged that the fire broke out from inside the double roomed residential house which was being occupied by the deceased as the trio was asleep until when neighbours saw the fire and had to dig through the walls and cut the metallic doors to gain access.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson says the residents found the baby burnt into ashes, one Nankaja already burnt to death and Aisha burnt but was still alive.

She was then rushed to Kirundu hospital but died on arrival.

He says there was total damage to household property, especially the double room occupied by the deceased.

Onyango says the two dead bodies were retrieved from the fire and taken to city mortuary for post-mortem and the third body is still at Kirudu Mortuary.

Police say the cause of the fire is not yet established and inquiries are at hand.
