Police together with the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) and other government agencies have developed a National Joint Task Force called Inter Agency Task Force to combat COVID 19.

 

Addressing a joint press conference at Naguru, the Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga says that the task force will be led by the Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Lt. Gen. Wilson Mbadi to respond to cases of coronavirus by evacuating patients from the community to isolated health facilities.

 

It will also involve National Joint Intelligence Committee, Immigrations and customs, National water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), UMEME and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).

 

Enanga says that they have further established another operational task force that is to be led by the Chief of Staff Land Forces Maj. Gen. Leopold Kyanda basing at Naguru police headquarters to respond to reports of coronavirus cases.

 

He says that the operational team is having 200 personnel already deployed at Entebbe Airport and Mulago National Referral Hospital ready to help the Ministry of Health and people will have to call the following numbers for Reporting or informing for evacuation of any suspected COVID -19 Cases to ministry of health or designated treatment facilities, include 0772 831 993 0772 510 522 and 0772 510 522.
