The newly elected Member of Parliament for Jinja Municipality East Paul Mwiru, has been sworn in this afternoon as the Jinja Municipality East Member of Parliament.
In the company of several opposition MPs, Mwiru took both the oath of Member of Parliament and Oath of Allegiance before the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah who handed him the instruments of a member of parliament cautioning him to raise the flag of Uganda high.
Paul Mwiru a member of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change was on 15 this month declared winner of the Jinja Municipality East parliamentary by-election after polling 6,654 votes, beating seven other candidates including Nathan Igeme Nabeta of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
