MPs sitting on the Parliament’s Budget Committee have been furious with the ministry of Finance planning and economic development officials for failing to appear and  present the budget framework paper 2023/2024 worth 49.9 trillion shs tabled before parliament last year 2022 in December.

The chairperson of the budget committee Patrick Isiaghi later informed the committee which was also attended by chairpersons of different sectoral committees that the ministry officials has asked him for more time till next week Monday due to their unreadness to defend the budget frame work paper.

However some MPs pleased with the chairperson to postpone the meeting to Tuesday next week which he rejected noting that the committee wasn’t ready to lose another day.

Isiaghi further says that parliament committees operate under sectors yet the budget framework paper was drafted under programs and hence they were interested in understanding which programs fall under which sector to enable parliament to design a strategy on how to process it.

The Mawogola south mp Goreth Namugga noted that it’s a shame the ministry could not alert them in time that they would not be able to make it in time.
