Parliament has resolved to write to the president over the continued absenteeism of ministers from parliamentary plenary sittings.

This is after the Bukholi Central Member of Parliament Solomon Silwany raised a procedural matter where he complained about the absence of ministers in the house on Wednesday evening and wondered who was going to respond to the issues raised by MPs.

Silwany’s concern was supported by other MPs who included Joseph Sewungu of Kalungu West MP, Maurice Kibalya of Bugabula South, and Cecilia Ogwal, the Dokolo district woman representative who requested to have at least 30 percent of ministers present in the sittings.

However in response, the third Deputy Prime Minister Rukia Nakadama informed the Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among that she had communicated the ministers about the plenary session on Wednesday and some replied that they were still in the field popularizing the Parish Development Model program.

Speaker Among however informed parliament that she only received two apologies from the Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja and the Minister of Education and Sports who is also the First Lady Janet Museveni about their absence thus resolving to write to the president over the matter.
