The parliamentary Public Accounts Committee Central has issued criminal summons against the permanent Secretary for the Tourism Ministry, Doreen Katusiime after absconding from attending the committee meeting that had been scheduled on Thursday.

Katusiime is under scrutiny after the auditor general’s report for the financial year 2022/23 implicated her over misusing billions of taxpayers’ money.

The issuance of the criminal summons to the PS Ministry of Tourism was after Members of Parliament on the committee complained to the Chairperson Muwanga Kivumbi accusing Katusiime for disrespecting and dishonoring the committee’s summons.

At first the team leader also the Under Secretary for the Ministry of Tourism Samuel Kakura who had led the team to the committee at first hesitated to lead the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officers to Katusiime’s home for arrests saying he can’t facilitate his boss’s arrest.

But later after a long time he agreed to collaborate with security and the chairperson Kivumbi ruled that by Tuesday 19th 2024 next week the PS Katusiime must appear willingly or by assistance of security.
