The exiting politicians have been given up to 31st of this month to declare their wealth by filling in the Inspector General’s online exit declaration forms of assets and liabilities to avoid unlikely consequences.

This has been disclosed during the function at parliament where the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga launched and tested the online exit declaration form of assets, Income and liabilities.

According to the Second Deputy Inspector General of Government (IGG) Mariam Wangadya said this will only work on leaders who weren’t re-elected into office after the past general elections.

Wangadya said they are disappointed with a law turn up of leaders in declaring their wealth which is at 5.2% out of the targeted 30,000 leaders.

She further informed the speaker that the office of IGG has registered success by recovering 1.2bnshs and 3bnshs from assets and properties that were obtained by public officials through corrupt means.

Meanwhile, the First Deputy IGG George Bamugemereire’s term of office has expired March 11, 2021 after serving for a period of eight year since 2013.

Now the office of first deputy IGG falls vacant together with the one of full IGG which has worried the Second Deputy IGG Wangadya saying this will affect the operations in the IGG if not worked on immediately.
