A section of opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) have disagreed with President Yoweri Museveni’s statement stopping legislatures from using their own money for service delivery in their constituencies.

In his remarks at the National Resistance Movement (NRM) legislatures retreat at Kyankwanzi on Monday, President Museveni cautioned MPs against using own or borrowed money in providing service meant for the government in constituencies which makes them indebted.

Now, the opposition MPs claim that the cause of all this is due to the failure by President Museveni and his government to provide needed services to the needy people at the grassroots.

Nakawa East MP Eng. Ronald Nsubuga Balimwezo and his colleague of Busiro East Medard Lubega Segona say that they are not ready to abandon their contributions in constituencies because electorates are in dire need of the service delivery.

Meanwhile, the Buyaga West MP Barnabas Tinkasimire says president Museveni and state house are the major problem of this country where huge sums of taxpayers’ money is allocated rather than prioritizing service delivery for the local person leaving the MPs with no option but to buy ambulances, build schools, extend water services among others.
