The Opposition in Parliament have for the third time stormed out of Parliament’s plenary session.

This followed the Leader of Opposition in Parliament Mathias Mpuuga raised a matter of concern about MPs’ security after detecting unknown people and drone vehicles around the precincts of Parliament.

Mpuuga brought to the attention of the Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa that Parliament had been invaded by unknown security personnel.

The said un-uniformed and plain clothed security personnel were both inside and outside Parliament.

Therefore, the Opposition walked out in protest of the Speaker denying them space on the Order Paper to debate security violation of human rights, illegal arrest and torture of NUP supporters.

However, in reply the Deputy Speaker Tayebwa said that the Sergeant at Arms at Parliament had informed him that the deployment was done by Kampala Metropolitan Police and he wasn’t responsible.

Yesterday the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa suspended five MPs for three sittings for causing chaos in Parliament and disrupting its proceedings.

These include Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake, Mityana District Woman MP Joyce Bagala, Makindye East’s Derrick Nyeko, Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze and Kassanda South MP Frank Kabuye.

These will return to Parliament’s plenary sittings next week on Tuesday.
