One killed by a police officer while fighting for their walkway

Police have arrested a senior officer Assistant Superintendent of Police Justus Bwire, the officer in charge Kironde Police Post for allegedly shooting dead a resident identified as David Kibuuka of Kabowa, Rubaga Division Kampala

Kibuuka, who is said to be, the area information secretary and other residents were leading a peaceful demonstration at a factory in Ssembule A Zone known as Ambitious Company, whose management they accuse of blocking a community road.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesman Luke Owoyesigyire “When the group gathered at the gate of the factory, the officer fired several rounds of bullets to disperse them. One bullet hit Kibuuka and sustained injuries. He was picked and taken to hospital but died on arrival.

Residents have condemned the police for acting out of law because the residents were peaceful and were fighting for their rights. However Owoyesigyire said they are investigating a murder offence against ASP Bwire.

Ambitious Construction Company Limited is broadly located in Wankulukuku Road, Nalukolongo Industrial Area, is said to have blocked the footpaths that used to help people to access trinity zone in Ssembule area which sparked off the demonstration in the morning of November 26, 2019 blocking all people including workers and Indians from accessing the factory and when police came on firing live bullets to disperse the angry residents a bullet hit the area leaders.
