The legal adviser National Unit Platform-NUP also Busiro East Member of Parliament Medard Lubega Ssegona has warned security agencies not to hide behind the alleged terrorist threats to stop the ongoing party’s mobilization campaigns.

His statement comes at the time when police are pursuing a group of said terrorists who planted bombs in areas around Kampala like Lungujja, Nateete and at Miracle Center Church in Rubaga division.

Ssegona wonders why all of a sudden terrorists have started planting bombs within the central region as the NUP party President Robert Kyagulanya is soon holding meetings in the same area.

He however says that this will not deter them from holding the planned nationwide campaigns and asked Ugandans to take security cautions seriously if it’s true that there are terrorists who are planting the bombs.

Meanwhile, Police have cautioned the NUP leadership against conducting the party’s nationwide mobilization campaigns outside the framework they agreed upon.

NUP led by the President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu have so far conducted mobilization campaigns and opened up branch offices in Mbarara, Kabale, Fort Portal and Kasese without any security interruptions.

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says that they agreed with NUP leadership to ensure that the party follows the guidelines agreed on conducting these campaigns.

He reminds the leadership of NUP that police are mandated by laws of the country to regulate and guide all the gatherings in the country.
