The rift between the National Resistance Movement –NRM national Vice Chairman Eastern Region and the Vice President Jessica Alupo will be solved by the party’s Central Executive Committee- CEC, the NRM Electoral Commission Chairman Dr. Tanga Odoi has disclosed.

The rift between Alupo and Captain Mukula was exposed in the recently concluded Soroti City East by-election where the NRM National Vice Chairman Eastern Region accused the Vice President of having an ego that had divided party leaders in Teso into factions.

Mukula reached a point of calling on the Party Chairman Yoweri Museveni to reign in over the politically damaging contradictions.

Dr Tanga while addressing the press along Kyadondo road on plot 13 on Tuesday said that the matter is already before CEC which is chaired by President Museveni and will soon be resolved.

Commenting on the cooperation agreement signed on Monday among the opposition parties that including the Forum for Democratic Change -FDC, National Unity Platform- NUP, Justice Forum- JEEMA, People’s Progressive Party-PPP and Peoples Front for Transition- PFT, Dr Tanga says their merger is just an opportunity for the NRM to beat them all without spending much resource.

He laughed at Dr. Kizza Besigye, the leader of PFT saying he is looking for a comeback avenue on the political scene in this agreement.

In regards to the Soroti City East by-election NRM victory, Dr Tanga termed the achievement as ‘a big fish defeat’ against the FDC, calling for the opposition party to petition court for any disagreement.

The Soroti East Returning Officer Christine Eyuu declared NRM’s Herbert Edmund Ariko the winner with 9,407 votes, FDC’s Moses Attan got 8,771 votes and Uganda people’s congress candidate Pascal Amuriat tailed off with 115 votes.
