The Covid-19 Case projection model is projecting a decline in daily reported cases for the week of 10th to 16th October with an average of 86 new cases per day and a weekly total of 604 new cases, the National Planning Authority-NPA has said.

According to the projection model for the week of 17th to 23rd October, a daily average of 82 new cases and a weekly total of 576 are projected.

In the past week, the model predicted a slight increase in the number of cases for the coming weeks but the low number of reported cases recorded in the previous week has contributed to the projected decline.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Health the number of active admissions in both government and private hospitals has gone down with the active admissions increased slightly at the beginning of September to 426 cases but are currently 320. Admissions in ICUs have continued to reduce and currently stand at only 14.

Engineer J.B Abraham Muwanguzi, the NPA Manager Science Planning Department attributes the decline to the persistent observation of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
