The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has set to register school going children below and above the age of 16 years in a much publicized free countrywide exercise.

Osborn Mushabe, the NIRA Spokesperson says that the exercise will commence in this academic year first term and cover children in both Primary and Secondary Schools.

He says the exercise will be conducted in two phases where children below 16 years of age will be issued with a National Identification Numbers (NIN) and those above 16 years have given the National Identification cards after the registration exercise.

Mushabe however, called on parents and guardians of these learners send them to school photocopy of their National IDs and the right information that will be needed during their registration exercise.

Meanwhile, Mushabe noted that they also want to update the data of the children who had been earlier registered while still at the age of 16 years of age.
