At least nine seminarians who wait to be ordained deacons have taken perpetual vows as members of the Catholic Religious Congregation of the Holy Cross.

This has happened before the Pope Nuncio Emeritus Archbishop Augustine Kasujja and the Provincial Superior of the Holy Cross Congregation in Uganda, Fr. Dr. Cyprian Binaka at Lubaga Cathedral.

During the homily in a Eucharistic mass, the Archbishop Kasujja said vocation and consecrated life is a gift from God that has to be jealously protected through prayer and support from the parents and church leaders.

He further calls for readiness to take up the cross and evangelize the world to save human souls that are diverted by many challenges and world desires.

Archbishop Kasujja reminded the newly confessed to be mindful of the Earthly desires that might derail them from their calling but also come to serve with those already in the Priesthood and religious life rather than being in competition or hatred.

The seminarians are expected to be ordained deacons on Thursday at the Lubaga Cathedral.

The Congregation of Holy Cross (CSC) is a Catholic clerical religious congregation of pontifical rite for men founded in 1837 by Basil Moreau, in Le Mans, France.

It is an international congregation with formation houses in Jinja Uganda and Makole formation House in Nairobi Kenya within East Africa.
