The opposition National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED) calls for immediate withdrawal of Ugandan Troops from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and deployment in Uganda to ensure safety of the citizens.

This comes after the loss of over 42 lives including 37 students of Lhubiriha secondary school, in Mpondwe, Kasese district in western Uganda who was killed by suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels last Friday.

Kabuleeta says Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) spends over Shs7 billion per month in Operation Shujaa which is aimed at tracking ADF rebels within the forests of DR. Congo but surprisingly its splinter groups attacked the school killing 37 students.

While addressing journalists at the party headquarters in Lubaga Joseph Kabuleta the party president said that it is disheartening to see people losing their lives yet Uganda deployed troops to keep peace elsewhere leaving the taxpayers suffering.

Kabuleta asserts that it’s most likely that the money spent on the UPDF to track ADF is wasted accountability is needed for the funds so far spent.

He has consoled the families that lost their dear ones and the students.
