The opposition National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED) calls for compulsory audit of all ministries and agencies before they are merged to save taxpayers money.

According to the plan, 33 agencies will see their function mainstreamed back to the sector ministries, while 63 will be merged and only 61 will be retained, under the different sectors.

While addressing journalists at party headquarters in Lubaga today Asuman Odaka the party secretary general told the media that a lot of taxpayers’ money have been mismanaged in these agencies and sector ministries so it’s time to get the real  accountability before are emerged and if the heads or workers found guilty of misusing Funds to face laws.

Asuman adds that President Museveni said over UGX 1 trillion is going to be saved as a result of merger of ministries but that is a small amount of money to what is being injected and misused in those ministries and agencies.

However, Odaka says unless the government gets a solution to fight against corruption emerging agencies only can’t save the misuse of taxpayers’ money.
