Police have arrested a cattle dealer identified as Moses Kagasha for allegedly transporting 15 heads of cattle to Kalerwe Abattoir from one of the districts that is under quarantine.

This comes after the Agriculture Ministry recently increased the number of districts placed under quarantine to 36 with those neighboring areas under strict surveillance due to the outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease.

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says that Kagasha, a resident of Nakakabala in Kiboga district, was intercepted at Busunju while transporting cows for slaughtering at Kalerwe in Kampala on a Canter truck registration number UBN 310B.

Enanga further says that more three Fuso trucks were intercepted transporting cows from Kumi district which is also under quarantine to Kampala.

He however appeals to the public to report any case of transportation of cattle from the districts under quarantine to avoid the spread of Foot and Mouth diseases.
